Participating in multiple sports/physical activities year round


Long Term Athlete Development expoerts recommend that kids should be participating in mulitple sports throughout the year. This is based on research that shows that kids that particpate in multiple sports, stay in sport longer,  sustain fewer injuries, and are more likely to be more competitive. 

Young athletes in the FUNdamentals stage should be participating in a wide range of different sports throughout the year. These can be indoor or outdoor, team or individual, more physically or more technically focused. The important thing is that children participate in a varitey of activities to developing a wide foundation of fundamental movement and sport skills and discover what aspects of sport they enjoy.
